Ever feel just a little off but can’t explain it? I find that when I begin to retreat inward and become less social it’s the first clues to me that I need to shake up my routine and connect with my soul sister tribe.
What is a soul sister tribe? My soul sister tribe is my family that I chose because I just clicked with instantly and felt like we were friends forever from the first time we met. And the thing about my group is we don’t see each other all that often but that doesn’t matter. We pick up right away and it’s like no time passed in between talking or seeing each other.
The best part of my sisterhood is that we don’t judge each other but rather are supportive instinctively. We never had to state any of that, it’s just understood and it’s part of the reason we all love to be with each other. The best part is we can all be ourselves.
Being yourself around someone else is the most freeing experience. I find when I’m around people I would consider friends but I sense they are pretending or hiding something it is like a kick in the gut to me. I can’t spend a lot of time with them even if they are my “friends.” I am drained after those visits and it is a reminder to me to choose wisely with my time.
Be aware of how you feel after you spend time with others. Do you feel drained, sad, worn out after hanging out? Or do you feel energized, inspired or just happy when you leave? It’s the same as listening to your body after you eat food.
Your body will give you clues about what is good for you if you choose to listen.
Your sister soul tribe can be a positive source for you if you pay attention to how your body reacts and connects. Don’t force a friendship and take the first clues as accurate.
How do you find your sister soul tribe?
The first thing you need to do is take an inventory of the people you share time with the most and be honest with yourself about how they make you feel. If it’s one-sided then that person is not part of the tribe. But if you get as much as you give in the relationship and you look forward to seeing or talking to that person then that is one key member of your tribe.
There is no magic number of people you need in a soul sister tribe. The more important factor is connecting with the right ones. And when you find your sisters be grateful for that friendship and support each other on this journey. All of the pivots you take in life will be made smoother, more fun and easier to handle with the right people by your side.
